Dental Implants
What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is a titanium post that is placed deep into the bone of the jaw. It is used to replace areas of missing dentition in the mouth. Implants can be used to replace just one tooth at a time or to keep a bridge or even denture securely in place. Implants are a long-lasting and durable option, since most of these restorations can easily last for three to four decades without showing any signs of wear.
Why are Dental Implants needed?
You might need or want a dental implant because you’re currently missing a tooth. You may feel insecure about the way that you look because of the missing teeth and are finding it difficult to smile with confidence. Likewise, you may wear dentures and are looking for a better way to keep them in place without using a lot of gels and adhesives. Implants don’t require that surrounding teeth be damaged or compromised like some other restorative options.
"I have been attending Dr.Valiani's office in Monrovia for the past 10yrs. I have always given the best attention by her staff and her. I have been to other offices in the past and there has not been any place I have felt most comfortable like Foothill Dental. I would definitely recommend friends and family . A very professional office."

Who is a candidate for Dental Implants?
In order for an implant to heal and work correctly, it needs to fuse with the bone through a process known as osseointegration. Osseointegration can take about three to six months or longer depending on the patient. However, if you don’t have enough bone in the area the implant is going to be placed, it will not heal properly and can fail. A bone graft is necessary if you have bone loss prior to having an implant placed.
What happens during the procedure for Dental Implants?
We begin by consulting with you and going over any sedative or anesthetic options. We then administer the sedative of your choice and begin the surgery. The titanium implant post is inserted deep into the bone of the jaw. It is given time to heal and fuse with this bone. You will come into the office regularly so that we can check on the implant’s status. Once healed, a crown, bridge or new denture plate can be made specifically for your implant.
