What are Braces?

Braces are helpful in correcting issues with misalignment and overcrowding. It is not uncommon to have a smile that is not perfectly straight. Unfortunately, a misaligned smile might cause you to feel insecure about your appearance as well as have a hard time keeping your teeth clean. Your teeth will be easier to care for and more beautiful once you’ve undergone orthodontic treatment.

Why are Braces needed?

Braces are suitable for patients of all ages and can be beneficial to your confidence and your ability to clean your teeth properly. It is never too early or too late to consider braces for yourself or a child. Some of the different problems that braces can fix include:

  • Crowding
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Spaces and gaps
  • Under and overbites

"I have been attending Dr.Valiani's office in Monrovia for the past 10yrs. I have always given the best attention by her staff and her. I have been to other offices in the past and there has not been any place I have felt most comfortable like Foothill Dental. I would definitely recommend friends and family . A very professional office."

Why Are Dental Exams & Cleanings Needed

How often should you have Dental Exams & Cleanings?

It is recommended that you have both cleanings and exams done every six months. These bi-annual appointments ensure that your teeth are properly cleaned and free of all stains and tartar buildup. The exam is useful in creating a treatment plan if additional work is needed. Regardless of age, you and your family should strive to come into the office twice a year for checkups.

What can you expect with Dental Exams & Cleanings?

The appointment typically begins with a cleaning. The cleaning is performed by a licensed dental hygienist who uses special tools, called scalers, to remove hardened plaque from your teeth. The teeth are then flossed and polished. Once this is done, the gums are checked for signs of periodontal (gum) disease. Next, Dr. Valiani will come into the room and perform the examination. We’re looking for cavities, signs of problematic restorations and even oral cancer. We’ll then pre-schedule your next checkup appointment and you can go about your day.

If you think you might need an exam or cleaning, call our office now and we will be more than happy to schedule an appointment for you.
