Dentures & Partials
What are Dentures & Partials?
A denture is a type of prosthesis that can replace areas of missing dentition within the mouth. Most often, patients with severely advanced gum disease may need to have their remaining teeth removed and a denture put into place. If you still have a lot of your own natural healthy teeth, a partial denture is more suitable. Partial dentures clip onto your existing teeth and are made to only replace the teeth you’re currently missing.
Why are Dentures & Partials necessary?
There are many problems that come from missing teeth. Not only may you feel badly about your appearance, but you will find that it is more difficult to eat and chew your favorite foods. When you’re missing a lot of teeth, your cheeks may look sunken-in, causing you to appear older than you actually are. Dentures work both cosmetically and restoratively to improve your oral health.
"I really like this dentistry! It's good because they are very precise with scheduling and are also very precise with tooth operations. I recently got a crown and the operation was very fast and simple. I am totally satisfied with every mouth operation I have gotten from Foothill Dental! I highly recommend them!"

Who is a candidate for Dentures & Partials?
With the help of an exam, we can determine if you’ll benefit from a full or partial denture. In some cases, extractions are needed prior to having a denture both fitted and placed. It is important to have your denture replaced every five to seven years as it shows signs of wear. You should never attempt to repair your own denture at home using commercial-grade glues and adhesives.
What happens during the procedure for Dentures & Partials?
We first take impressions of your teeth and use these to craft the new prosthesis. You will come back into our office and be fitted with the denture. It’s not uncommon to need several adjustments before the fit of the denture is just right. You will need to remove your denture each night to clean it and remove stains, bacteria and plaque. If your denture shows signs of wear, it’s important to have it either professionally repaired or replaced. You will love your new smile when wearing a full or partial denture.
If you think you might need either a full or partial denture, call our office today and we can get you in for a consultation appointment.
